SIMMONS STATUE

The Philip Simmons statue, sculpted by prominent New Orleans artist Tom Durham, was completed in May 2001 and unveiled during a June 10, 2001, Philip Simmons birthday celebration.

The statue of Mr. Simmons is the only life-sized replica of this man of character, self assurance and humility.

The statue is a symbol of an artisan who shares his artistic vision with everyone who admires a fence or decorative gate of his design.

"It is for these reasons that we at Elpis, Incorporated, see the completion of this statue as the single greatest achievement of our ministry to the Charleston community," said Elpis president Brother Dallas. "While you're looking at this artistic wonder, turn around a view the statue of Jesus, entitled 'Ultimate Service.'"
